It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr. Gerhard Schroeder is returning to our company after 2 ½ years. He is taking up the position of the executive sales director.
His comprehensive technical knowledge, as well as his previous experience gained as our quality manager will be an enrichment for our team.

All employees and further 60 guests have been invited to celebrate the 95th company anniversary as well as the dedication of the new production hall.
Almost as an aside and humbly as usual, the record result of 6,5 million Euros net operating profit after taxes was announced.
The decision of the shareholders meeting, which took place immediately before, to distribute 4,95 Euro dividends per share was accepted gladly by the employees. Represented by Aluminiumwerk Unna e.V., they hold 25,1 % of the shares. This was as welcome revenue just before summer holidays.
Thomas Wiese further raised the high spirits by confirming the company will not have short-time work or enforced redundancy.

New record for the number of participants at the 5th Unna AOK Corporate challange - ALUnna field largest team.237 runners from Aluminiumwerk Unna AG appear at the town hall square, dressed up in complete track suits, ready to run the 5 km through Unna.
Only a week before an idea became reality. Track suits were ordered, list of participants were assembled and the employees were caught up in euphoria.
The fact that even the senior management level participated raised a cheer from the other teams.

Our current work load has provided us with the opportunity to overhaul our largest extrusion press [weeks 23 – 28 / 2009].

On March 5th 2009 the Aluminiumwerk Unna supervisory board has given their unanimous assent to the capital expenditure plan presented by the managing board.

During an employees meeting, which took place on site this morning, Thomas Wiese (board member and majority shareholder of Aluminiumwerk Unna AG) has informed the members of staff as well as selected personnel of sub-contractors located inside the company, of the coming up investments.

In the remaining five years leading up to the companies’ centenary birthday in 2014, two more extrusion presses will be assembled in a specially built production hall having a size of approx. 1.6 acres (6500 m²).
To expand the established customer base on the one hand, and to enhance the relative market share on the other, further investments will be made in the drawing and straightening as well as the subsequent treatment of the tubes.

The first extrusion press, a Kobe press with an extrusion power of 35 MN/ 45 MN (direct/ indirect), is scheduled to start running mid 2010, the other, a Sutton press with 45 MN extrusion power, until mid 2011.
Through these additional manufacturing facilities Aluminiumwerk Unna AG are preparing for the economic revival which is sure to come, and when this happens they will be in a position to fulfill their customer’s requirement.

With this capital expenditure plan the company is providing up to 150 new jobs, and with a total investment budget of 50 Million Euros up to 2013 Aluminiumwerk Unna AG is surely swimming against the stream in times of Investment stop and short-time work.

This master plan will help to define and expand the companies’ position as one of the leading manufacturer of seamless and cold drawn aluminum tubes on the global market.
This will enable Aluminiumwerk Unna to carry on in providing top-class service for their customers.
